Welcome Back to the Arduino learn by doing projects  Tutorial series. Our task for today is IR Module the obstacle detecting module with arduino. I found this module very helpful in many projects. I extremely Recommend this if you are making Line following Robot.It has quite good response and easy to interface. Instead of making circuits with IR led's  use this module and easily interface with arduino. I have made a very clean Robot you can see in this post<br />

The IR module is more useful because we can also use this module to measure distance. More importantly it can be used as an encoder, flame sensor , line black and white color detection.<br />
The working phenomenon of IR module is same as the other obstacle avoiding sensors of sending and receiving signals.<br />

The Infrared ( IR )  Sensor has infrared Transmitter and Receiver.It can be used in many ways.There are many applications of IR module. It has quite good response as it gives 0 to 5v the range of 0 to 1024 so we can adjust our threshold in between this range.</div>
<div>
The great and cool thing about this IR module is that it has built in comparator and a potentiometer for adjusting distance range.We can easily adjust our threshold range by varying potentiometer.</div>
<div>
An indication Led is also placed over this module for obstacle indication.</div>

The working principle of IR module is same as in other modules the one transmitter and receiver. The Transmitter sends the infrared signal and receiver catches the bounce back signal.whenever an object come near to the sensor the signals reflected back to the receiver. The signal will not reflect on black surface so it gives 0 instead of 1 this is very helpful in the case of line following robot.</div>

The interfacing of IR module is quite easy.It has one output pin connect this pin to any arduino digital pin.</div>

If i'm not wrong we can say the communication way of fishes.</div><div><br /></div><h2><span style="color: #cc0000;">2-How Ultrasonic SR04 SONAR sensor works</span></h2><div>The Ultrasonic sensor works on the phenomenon of sending sound waves at a particular frequency and receive on bouncing back. The sensor also not works in dead band. So we use npn </span></span></span></span><span class="_Tgc _y9e"><span class="_Tgc _y9e"><span class="_Tgc _y9e"><span class="_Tgc _y9e">P2N2222A transistor. </span></span></span></span><br /><h4><span class="_Tgc _y9e"><span class="_Tgc _y9e"><span class="_Tgc _y9e"><b><span class="_Tgc _y9e"> </span></b></span></span></span></h4><h4><span class="_Tgc _y9e"><span class="_Tgc _y9e"><span class="_Tgc _y9e"><b><span class="_Tgc _y9e">Reason of using transistor with relay </span></b></span></span></span></h4><span class="_Tgc _y9e"><span class="_Tgc _y9e"><span class="_Tgc _y9e"><b><span class="_Tgc _y9e"> </span></b></span> </span></span><br /><span class="_Tgc _y9e"><span class="_Tgc _y9e">            If you supply 5v directly to the coil of 12volt relay using IO pin of  arduino maybe the current is not enough to switch the latch since 5v /  400 ohm = 0.0125 A or ~13mA compare to typical 30mA of 12v relay. So you  have to use a transistor as a switch so that you can use 5v source of  arduino to switch on 12v source to power the relay. Any 12v source would  be fine if it is able to provide current larger than 30mA.</span></span><br /><br />If you  use 5v relay and use arduino IO pin to drive the relay directly, the  coil resistor is around 70 ohm which needs ~71mA to work. This time 71mA  excess the absolute 40mA current limit of arduino IO pin. It will  likely damage your arduino. <h2>      Control DC Motors with L293D motor driver and Arduino:</h2><div style="text-align: justify;">                   In every Project If you want to make Robots, Robotic Vehicles and if you  want to lift weights or making line following robots, soccer Robots and  obstetrical avoided Robots all you need to first <b>How to control our DC Motors</b> to move Forward, Backward direction.<br /><br />                How to control speed of motors and How to  connect it with micro-controller. The reason Behind this is that in  microcontrollers we have very low voltages that deliver very small  amount of current in  Arduino.<b> </b><br /><br />The Arduino is operates at very low  voltages 5 to 12 volts. So its also deliver small amount of current and in  some devices we need more voltages and current to operate. Dc motors  also need more current and Voltages to Operate.<br />         <br />Second main reason is to control the <b>speed and direction</b> of  DC motors. Thats our first need because  Arduino can't  handle 18 volts and 1 Ampere current. If our motors works  more then 5 volts we should connect it with motor driver. The first 8 pins used for control first DC Motor and the rest  pins is used for second DC Motors. Here pin number 1 is for PWM pin of  Arduino and it is used for controlling speed of Motor. Pin 2 and 7 is  for controlling direction of Motor. Pin 4 and 5 are Ground and pin 3 and  6 is for connection of motor.
