Welcome Back to the Arduino learn by doing projects  Tutorial series. Our task for today is IR Module the obstacle detecting module with arduino. I found this module very helpful in many projects. I extremely Recommend this if you are making Line following Robot.It has quite good response and easy to interface. Instead of making circuits with IR led's  use this module and easily interface with arduino. I have made a very clean Robot you can see in this post<br />

The IR module is more useful because we can also use this module to measure distance. More importantly it can be used as an encoder, flame sensor , line black and white color detection.<br />
The working phenomenon of IR module is same as the other obstacle avoiding sensors of sending and receiving signals.<br />

The Infrared ( IR )  Sensor has infrared Transmitter and Receiver.It can be used in many ways.There are many applications of IR module. It has quite good response as it gives 0 to 5v the range of 0 to 1024 so we can adjust our threshold in between this range.</div>

The great and cool thing about this IR module is that it has built in comparator and a potentiometer for adjusting distance range.We can easily adjust our threshold range by varying potentiometer.</div>
<div>
An indication Led is also placed over this module for obstacle indication.</div>

The working principle of IR module is same as in other modules the one transmitter and receiver. The Transmitter sends the infrared signal and receiver catches the bounce back signal.whenever an object come near to the sensor the signals reflected back to the receiver. The signal will not reflect on black surface so it gives 0 instead of 1 this is very helpful in the case of line following robot.</div>

If i'm not wrong we can say the communication way of fishes.</div><div><br /></div><h2><span style="color: #cc0000;">2-How Ultrasonic SR04 SONAR sensor works</span></h2><div>The Ultrasonic sensor works on the phenomenon of sending sound waves at a particular frequency and receive on bouncing back. The SR04 ultrasonic module is a high accuracy range detector module.The Distance range of SR04 SONAR is from <b>2 cm to 400 cm</b> . </div><div>The module works fine in almost all good conditions but remember in high noise and in some situations and materials the module will not work. The sensor also not works in dead band. What is the importance of controller. When we say that the system is controlled the exact meaning of this is that we controlled the different parameters of a system. For example if we <br />are controlling the vehicle either we control it by steering or by breaks or something else. If the speed is increases and we want to stop the vehicle what will we do, we remove the feet from accelerator or press the breaks ultimately we are add or remove something in the system. So controller controls different parameters which are ultimately effecting the system performance.<br /><br />Now why it is called as a logical controller. In previous we see controller controls different parameters but the parameters with certain logic. For example we have a controller for elevator If you are on the 3rd floor and calls a lift after getting in and pressing the button of ground floor and at the same time in 4th floor someone press the call button what exactly elevator perform first on that time..? does it go up and pick them first or does it come down to the ground floor first. To manage all that the logics will be used so called a Programmable logic controller.<br /><br />PLC is basically a controller that you can programed. So its the controller that works under the certain logic and that logic can be changed or can be altered by using a programming.  <br /><br /><h3>Why to Use PLC in Automation </h3>       Where is the need of Automation. If you have 2 cars and have a chance to automate 1 car. Among of both cars 1 is used only one time to travel between "A" to "B" area and second car travel daily from "A" to "B" area. Which of them car you are going to automate obviously second car which needs daily working the same things. So PLC's also used in Automation to do same things billions or trillions of time a day which is impossible for a human being or if it's possible so humans actually can't  do same work again and again but the robots can they will not get tired. Another example for automation is pick and placed robots that pick and placed things again and again. In the middle there is the main brain of PLC the controller. On the left side Inputs. Inputs have transistor and sensors. Depends on what is your requirement whether you want monitoring the flow and control it or you want monitoring the flow and control it or you want monitoring the Temperature and control it. Based upon that where ever the parameters you need to monitor that particular sensors are going to work as a input and all sensors couple to PLC. Now this PLC on the other side is connected to the Output. Output have actuators. Now second Input in which PLC parameters process is based on some logic. Logic will be provided to PLC through the programming and there are special programming software's for PLC programmings which will discuss later. After the process of plc for both input we have actuators at the output side like Solenoid valve, servo motors, stepper motors etc. Between the Input, PLC and Output there is insulator which is used for safety of microprocessor of the PLC.<br /><br /><h2>Programming (Ladder logic diagram) </h2>Ladder diagram programming there are many software's for PLC programming. we used "WPL soft". PLC is similar to microcontroller and it is also connected with computer. The controlling purpose of 3d motion controller device we used Processing software. Processing is a open source computer programming language. Java based software in which we are programming in java language. It has collection of libraries that helps to control the commands of leap motion controller and then sends these all commands to arduino. The simply work is read data from leap in the form of you hand gestures in X, Y, Z axis and pass it to arduino for arduino basics<b><a href="http://www.makeitmech.com/2017/02/getting-started-with-arduino-micro.html" target="_blank"> getting-started-with-arduino </a></b>you dont't have to install any extra library in arduino software. There is builtin library in it.<br /><b><br /></b>For controlling servo motor with leapmotion and arduino we are using the y-axis of leap device to control the angles of servomotor. We are sending the commands via serial ports of processing to Arduino IDE.<br /><br />In processing you can used leap motion controller of any axis X, Y, Z but we are using x-axis to control our servo angles from 0 to 180 degree. This is seems something out of science fiction to make a movement of physical things by only gestures of your hands but we just made it in reality.<br /><br /><h4>Circuit Diagram</h4>Attach servo with pin # 9 to control it with Hand gesture recognition technology. Make sure that vcc is connected with 5volt and black wire of motor connected with Ground. If hands at above the 720 size the servo angle move to 180 degree. If the position of hand gestures are below the zero the angle turns to 0 degree. If we  are going to closed our hand the intensity (light) of an led is going to  dim bit by bit. When we totally closed our hand grip the led is turn  OFF.<br />Similarly when we open our hand in front of leap motion  device the led is turn ON and when we fully open our hand the led glow  with full intensity.<br />Its the same as using Duty cycle (pulse width  modulation) of Arduino for fading Led. But here is the concept of using  hand gesture to control the fading led instead of using duty cycle (  Pulse width modulation).<br />If you are get used with Leapmotion technology then its very easy to understand the programming about hand gestures.
